Help with the loss of a close pet?

Anonymous asked:

I stayed at a cabin in pigeon forge, tennesee, on the last day i lost my cat. i mean literally, she’s LOST the night before, she was therem the next morning… thin air. i don’t know if she somehow got outside and ran from dogs or what but she vanished. i’d feel better knowing where she is or knowing that she moved on to the next life rather than praying she’ll be found and reunited with me because i keep thinking she could be anywhere, lost, afraid, she could be with unfamiliar people, i’m just worried.

ok, that’s the gist of the story without minor details, but the main point is… if i’m not reunited with her, how can i move on and be happy again even not knowing if she’s dead or alive or where she is in the world or not knowing anything at all about what became of her? if she died i’d know what happened, i’d not be worrying, i’d be grieving and eventually feel better. but now, i just don’t know…
and it’s not as simple as putting up fliers and checking local shelters, i live a 1-2 hour drive from the area we were… this wouldn’t be as bad if she had gotten lost at our own house

I know how you feel I had a cat that disappeared too. It turned out that she was at the neighbors and they were taking really good care of her. When i saw the look on their 3 year olds face i let them keep her. Then they moved but i felt good because i made that little girl happy. I know its hard but she ran away or disappeared for a reason so i would get a new cat in a few months. Sorry for your loss.

Animals are wonderful companions on our earth journey, and we all should appreciate the time they give us. It seems to me that your wonderful cat has opened a new chapter in her own earth-walk, and in that spirit, you can be happy for her. Mentally project your congratulations and she may just hear them, wherever she is (ever seen ‘what the bleep do we know’? even hard science is now suggesting that matter at its most basic levels is not matter at all but mental energy) And be happy knowing that she has found her next road sign. :-)

Put up fliers with a picture and a description of your cat’s appearance and personality. Remember to include any collar or tag that she might be wearing, any special markings (a spot on her paw or back, a slightly crooked tail, etc), anything that might help, and include a phone number that has an answering machine or answering service. Go door to door and check animal shelters if you need to – just do whatever you can to find her. If you still can’t find her, then you will at least know that you did everything you could, and it will be easier to move on.

Find a way to honor her memory. Frame a picture of her and put it in a place where you’ll see her often, get a necklace with her photo on it, write a poem, draw a picture, whatever will make you feel better.

EDIT: I never said it would be easy. Our cat was lost about an hour and a half away from where we live, too, but you can still call. Maybe go over there on your day off and do that, and ask people to call if they see her or know anything. Some shelters can call you if a pet comes in who matches the description of yours.

You should definitely put up flyers in the area she was lost in and leave food out where she was lost, AND call local shelters letting them know her description and your contact info unless she shows up there. It IS as simple as that. She is most likely still nearby where you lost her.
